The new 400 Series Marker paper works beautifully with a range of marker types, but was created specifically for alcohol based markers.
One of the first things you'll notice about this new paper is that it is very smooth. The reason for this is when artists use marker on their paper, they want to make sure there is no drag when they are laying down color. The ultra-smoothness of the sheet ensures even strokes and clean lines, and prevents chewing of the marker nib.
Another key feature of the new Marker paper is the bleed resistance. It is intentionally not completely bleed-proof. As an artists lays down marker strokes, the color slowly sinks into the sheet. This allows the artist to move the ink around, blend, and pick up color if needed. It will take around 13-15 layers of marker before the color soaks through to the other side of the sheet. If the sheet were bleed proof, there would be nowhere for the ink to go, causing it to pool on the surface.
The 400 Series Marker paper is a bright white sheet, ensuring you get true, vibrant colors. The sheet is acid free and does not contain any Optical Brighteners (OB's). OB's are chemicals that manufacturers sometimes add to paper in order to make it appear brighter and whiter. However, over time these chemicals break down and cause the sheet to lose it's whiteness or even yellow over time which is not what an artists wants when creating a finished piece.
