Description
Demco Acrylic Mediums and Auxiliaries. Used in combination with Fluid or Heavy body Acrylic Paints, to add a variety of effects to your finished piece.
Pouring Medium
DEMCO EnCouleurs Pouring Medium is permanent and waterproof when dry. Mixed with fluid acrylic colours or drawing inks, it provides an homogeneous and smooth coloured film. The pouring medium gives a glossy relief to a flat surface and creates a water drop effect when applied sparingly. It will retain a high gloss and a wet appearance when dry. It can be used directly from the bottle without adding any colour for a thick varnish effect. The medium is milky in the bottle but will dry clear and glossy once dry.
Instuctions: Mix a few drops of fluid acrylic colour or drawing ink into one cup of pouring medium. Gently mix the colour to the medium with a wooden stick and let stand for ten minutes in order to remove air bubbles. Make sur to work on a leveled table to prevent uneven results. The pouring medium can be poured directly onto canvas, wood panels, liquid art panels etc., and let dry at least 24 hours in a dust-free environment.
Matte Medium
DEMCO EnCouleurs matte medium can be used to thin acrylic, increase its transparency, make it more soft and fluid and improve its adherence. Of medium viscosity, the matte medium accentuates the matte rendering of acrylic colours to which it is mixed. It can also be used as a backrground or a fixative. It is opaque when wet and translucent when dry. Do not use as a glazing medium or as a final varnish.
Glazing Medium
Use glazing meidum to bring out the luminosity of your work through the creation of colour depth and layering. Dries clear and slightly protective.
Crackle Medium
Want an antique look? Add stylish flare to wood, metal, paper, mirrors etc. The thicker the application, the greater the cracking. Drying time will vary due to application thickness. Cracks may take several days before developing fully. Do not tamper with drying by speeding up or slowing down the process. Once dry, use a final varnish for protetin and highlighting cracks. If you would like ta matte finish, you must use a gloss varnis first or you will obtain a frosted appearance. Apply crackle medium with a brush.
Gloss Acrylic Varnish
This 100% gloss acrylic polymer varnish protects acrylic colour from harsh elements. Dries to a clear, non-tacky, hard and flexible surface and resists to dirt retention & water once dry. Of fluid viscosity, it stays smooth, does not yellow and becomes transparent and gloss upon drying. Not for use over oil paints.
Application: Apply as a final varnish over dry acrylic paint. Varnish surface and environment must be clean and dust free. Acrylic paintings must be completely dry and cured for a minimum of 48 hours before varnishing. Thicker applications may take more time to cure. Apply with a brush or spray. Rolling or sponging application is not recommended.
Modelling Paste
Create three dimensional works that boost structure and dimension, texture and relief with our modeling paste. Use on non-oily, absorbent surfaces, applying with a palette knife or a dry brush. Create a layer at a time and allow to dry completely. To increase suppleness on flexible surfaces, blend with acrylic medium. Experiment by adding DEMCO EnCouleurs acrylic colours directly into the modelling compound. Can be sanded or carved once completely dry
Light Modelling Compound
Create three dimensional works that boost structure and dimension, texture and relief with our light modeling paste while flexible and lighter that a regular modeling paste.
Gel Medium
Designed to make acrylic colours more transparent and glossy while building surfaces, increasing paint volume and lengthening drying time. Maintains shape, making it ideal for work with brushes and aplette knives when the creation of teture is required. Due to its extra holding properties, you can even add lightweight objects to your project. Add a minimal quantity of medium gel to acrylics to achieve a consistency similar to oil paint.
Pearlizing Medium
The pearlizing medium, when mixed with acrylic paints, gives a pearl look. Mix 1 to 1 depending on desired pearl intensity.
