Artist Reception Sat. February 22, 2-5pm
Resurfacing is a series of journalistic drawings started the first weeks of the pandemic shutdown. Drywall is the unusual drawing surface and is the result of reworking an older body of work from the 1990s. The original panels of life size body prints were divided into smaller panels and reworked with a translucent layer of watercolour and gouache. These 58 panels are hung in groups so that the underlying figurative images become evident, but overall the effect may be more of a seasonally changing landscape. A final layer of dated text can appear as a cloudy mist or read as observations of daily life.
The individual panels are documented online at:

Lisa Fedak created mainly installations in the 1990s while teaching in various studio art programs. She has had five solo exhibitions, worked as part of the coordinating team of the Install-ART Collective, and participated in numerous group exhibitions of both installation art and pottery. She pursued an interest in pottery while raising a family and teaching English (ESL) to adult newcomers in our community. The disruption of the pandemic gave her the time and space to turn her attention to a reconsideration of her earlier installation work. Resurfacing is a return to her love of drawing and the process of creating a cohesive body of work.
