Kaweco manufactured the first metal writing instruments as early as 1905. What was made of silver or gold-plated brass back then is now made of aluminum. High-quality aluminum machined using CNC technology is refined in further processes to give it its silky, hardened surface.
The metallic body made of the highest quality aluminum gives these writing instruments a special feel. The fine surface gives the series elegance. Thanks to their low weight, the writing instruments are ideal for on the go. The colors include black, anthracite, silver, as well as the stonewashed models in the blue used look and the shiny RAW, which develops a patina with fine signs of wear particularly quickly due to untreated aluminum.
Around 1550, brass was used for casting for the first time, which resulted in a variety of possible applications. However, at the beginning of the industrial age, writing instruments were mainly made of hard rubber (ebonite). Brass, on the other hand, was only used for decorative parts such as clips or decorative rings. With the invention of ink cartridges, brass could also be used to make writing instruments because the ink no longer came into contact with the metal.
The brass of the Kaweco Brass Sport develops a natural and unique patina over time. User-related use causes a change in the surface, which can be attributed to chemical and corrosive influences. In this way, each Kaweco Brass Sport becomes unique over the course of use. Due to the high weight of the model, the writing instrument presses lightly on the paper by itself. This means you can write for a long time and comfortably.
