Instructor is David Caesar
We will all be painting the same image - a barred owl sitting on a tree branch. We will begin by transferring a line drawing onto a pre-painted background. This first step may take up to 40 minutes, so bring your patience! After a brief discussion about light and shadow and atmospheric perspective, we will then block in the colours, while learning about colour mixing, blending and texture. Oodles of detail work will follow. Join in, it’ll be a hoot!
Materials:
Students should bring tubes of acrylic paint - titanium white, yellow ochre, phthalo blue (green shade if there’s an option), burnt umber and cadmium or primary yellow. Brushes should include #5/0, 4, and 6. A spray bottle with water is very helpful to have handy as well.
